Nurul Khairizan Bte Hj Abd Kadir. Numeracy Local Coach, Brunei
I had the privilege of being mentored by Caroline Milne back in 2017. Caroline showed complete professionalism, sharing new knowledge and experiences throughout the training. She was an excellent listener and genuinely considering suggestions and comments. Her personality quickly allowed her to become accepted and gained respect in our Maths department. She changed my teaching perspectives which allows me to take risks and try new strategies in my classroom. Her feedback is often kind and motivating. She made me realise why I chose this career. She has a wonderful balance of providing the exact amount of support for me to learn without pressure. It always feels like she was not mentoring but rather we were collaborating like a team.
Jonathan Hadley, Education Consultant, UK
I have known Caroline Milne since 2012. Working as the lead consultant for the Alexandria Schools Trust [now incorporated into Education Development Trust], I recruited Caroline as an English teacher trainer for Victory College, Alexandria, Egypt. She remained with this project for 4 years.
During her time on this project, Caroline successfully built up from scratch a training programme for KG and primary English teachers. She developed a wide range of training resources, including overseeing the production of training videos recorded in her school. In addition to a regular schedule of pedagogy workshops, she worked alongside teachers in their classrooms to both improve teachers’ own English levels and to develop their teaching skills. Caroline was an enthusiastic, hardworking trainer who was much admired and appreciated by the teaching staff. She had an excellent rapport with both teachers and administrators. Egypt experienced a number of political upheavals during this period, but Caroline maintained a professional attitude throughout and delivered training to a high standard despite the numerous challenges in both the school and the city. Caroline showed a great deal of perseverance, innovation and integrity.
I am happy to support her application and confident that she will perform her duties with enthusiasm and to a high professional standard.
Magda Fadle, KG Teacher Victory College Alexandria
Caroline came to work in my school in 2012 through a fully funded training programme provided by Education Development Trust. The aim of the programme was to improve the teaching of English Language in Kindergarten and Lower Primary, and prepare selected teachers for the Cambridge TKT:YL certificate. She worked closely with the teachers, providing weekly training sessions and classroom demonstrations and observations. This input showed me a new way of teaching. I was very happy to apply the strategies in my classes and saw a big change in my approach to classroom practice.
Working with Caroline helped me build the confidence to go on and develop my own teacher training skills, and I have delivered three-day workshops to other teachers, as well as speaking at a conference in Jordan about the process of teacher professional development.
Mr Idlar Ilyazov, CIS Schools Group
Caroline worked as a secondary mathematics teacher at one of our campuses in Moscow (CIS Festivalnya). In addition to the teaching role, she also offered to use her extensive training background and help with staff development. During this time, she worked in a coaching capacity with our local deputy-head teacher in helping him upgrade his methodological skills. Working with Caroline helped him prepare PDP days for staff and write the school’s programme for the Cambridge Professional Development Qualification.
She also worked successfully on a one-to-one basis with three junior members of staff, also in a coaching capacity, including lesson observation cycles with detailed preparation support and feedback.
